Pretoria – A 70-year-old man was in a stable condition in hospital on Friday after a robber stabbed him at his Pretoria home, said paramedics.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said the man was attacked at his home in Dunstan road, Queenswood at around 10:40.

“It is alleged that the victim was attacked by a man that he knew just before he left his home to go and pay his rates and taxes. He was robbed at knife point and was subsequently attacked after handing over the money,” said Dollman.

He was stabbed in the left upper arm, left hand and close to his right knee.

“There was a rope with a noose close to the victim and it was alleged that the attacker had threatened to hang the elderly victim,” said Dollman.

Police could not be reached for comment.
