The case against security guard Aaron Mashishi, accused of murdering Pretoria dancer Estee van Rensburg, was on Friday transferred from the Pretoria magistrate’s court to the Pretoria High Court.
The case will now be heard in October.
Mashishi, 26, applied for bail which was denied.
The state opposed the bail application saying that it had a “watertight” case against Mashishi who is facing charges of murder, theft and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Mashishi was arrested on April 1 in connection with the March 26 murder of Van Rensburg – who was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head in her parent’s home in Faerieglen.
Mashishi was found in possession of her bank card, a TV and a DVD player.
In his affidavit read out to the court, Mashishi pleaded not guilty to the murder.
The matter will be heard in the Pretoria High Court on October 20. – Sapa
